This is my first post using my new MacBook Pro. My apologies, but I have been trying to transition from a Windows Vista (arrrgghhh) PC to a MacBook Pro.
All I can say, it is not an easy task, but I am not sorry. Thanks to the maniacal dedication of HP who did not provide drivers for Windows XP, I was locked in to the terrible Windows Vista operating system. Now my HP Pavilion dv9601au will sit for a few days to run in parallel and then I will forever, never be a HP customer.
I am left in a state of limbo. Many of the tools I have become accustomed to, are suddenly missing. What could be done with a few simple steps, clicks, and keyboard movements are suddenly an effort.
One of the most painful is the lack of a great personal information manager. My e-mail and calendaring lie in ruins, but I think the new Thunderbird 3 Beta 3 is worth a serious look, not only by Mac users, but also by Windows and Linux users, especially considering it is for free.
As one of the early adopters of the original Mac Plus way back in 1984, I am not giving up easily, but the additional effort is taking up much of my time.
I request your patience for another week. My travails should make for an interesting article.
