Europe trip – a second try at Qatar Airways

I am off on a two week trip to Europe. Along with work, I have managed to make some appointments with the leading spotters in London, Manchester, Prague, and hopefully Zurich. So if the weather cooperates, I hope to post some pictures from these airports.

Flying to London via Doha on Qatar Airways. Yes, yes, after my disastrous trip almost exactly a year ago to the day, I decided to give QR a second chance. The 10% discount promotion that Qatar Airways has for HDFC card holders, especially considering this trip is in Business Class, adds another reason for selecting the airline. Either I am a glutton for punishment or the service of the airline will have drastically improved and it should be a good trip.

Last trip was in the back of the bus, or rather Boeing, this time it will be in the front of the bus, Airbus. Outbound will be an Airbus A330-200 Bangalore to Doha, and a very very long A340-600 a.k.a. “The Pencil” Doha to Heathrow. Return is the same aircraft combination with the exception of an A330-300 on the Doha Bangalore leg.

Will keep my camera ready and will try to post a trip report.

In case you are wondering why I did not comment on the absolute mess at Air India, I can only shake my head. A recent article by Subir Roy in The Business Standard summarises how Air India is being systematically killed.
