Airline wise capacity share ex Bangalore India at Bengaluru International Airport
Kingfisher with 65,724 seats, is still the market leader, but unlike earlier days, when the airline was considered based out of Bangalore, its lead over second place IndiGo, has shrunk significantly.

IndiGo, the Gurgaon based low cost carrier is showing a clear committment to the domestic segment at Bangalore, and has leapt almost a percentage point ahead of India market leader Jet Airways whose low capacity share is rather surprising.

Barring one sole flight to Dubai by Kingfisher, Air India is the only Indian carrier to operate international flights from Bangalore. Air India capacity is small since most of its operations are Airbus A319 based and few are A320. The national carrier does not operate any A321 or wide-body service ex Bangalore.

On the international side, Emirates is clearly the market leader with 21 A330-200 flights offering 10,416 seats a week, double that of its nearest competitor, Germany’s Lufthansa which operates a daily Boeing 747-400 to Frankfurt.

With members Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways and Air China operating flights to Bangalore, the Star alliance is clearly the market leader at present. With Kingfisher due to enter the oneworld alliance in early 2012, the balance could be redressed.
